I travel all around the world, drawing pictures as I go. Everyone looks at the same Sun, yet people from different countries, with varying cultural backgrounds, in discrete locales see that sun in entirely different ways and impart different meanings to it—proof that there is no single "accepted norm." This exhibition starts by exploring my travel experiences, looks at the Sun itself, and ends in a space where viewers are enveloped by the Sun. It's okay to see things in different ways than other people; the world you see through your own eyes has its own, unique value. My hope is that the exhibition will provide opportunities for self-affirmation and inspire you to step out into the wide world around you.

🔶ITOKiN

Born in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, 1982.
Established a unique style using only three colors—red, blue, and yellow—and painting with his non-dominant left hand.
In 2011, inspired by the Great East Japan Earthquake, he wondered, “Can I make people smile through my art?” and aspired to become a painter.
At age 30, he quit his job and moved to New York, thinking, “If someone like me can become super famous, I can prove anyone has the potential.”
Launched the MAKEsmile project in 2012. The motto is “MAKEsmile.”
Over three years until 2015, traveled to 47 countries worldwide, engaging in creative expression through street art, exhibitions, and live painting. He integrated the journey itself into his creative process, undertaking projects like circumnavigating the globe and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Since then, he has expanded his activities through solo and group exhibitions domestically and internationally, collaborations with brands, and mural projects in public spaces.
In recent years, he has focused on participatory art and projects linked to community, education, and welfare, continuing his work centered on “art that shares challenge and emotion.
